While I was planning to stay in Canada, i headed back to Aus coz my mum was sick and dads health also wasn’t looking too good. I wanted to be there for them. I couldn’t put everything into it in Canada. My heart wasn’t in it. I wanted to go home. Its been a year since i left Australia last year to set off on my quest and one thing ive realised is family is precious! While the last 5 years ive been mostly trying to get away from my parents. When im with them now i try to make the most of the time we have together.
The last year has flown so fast and ive certainly seen and done amazing things in the year gone. Ive met so many great people who I will never forget and made lifelong friends. I got outside my comfort zone and learnt a lot about the world, people and myself. Im so glad I did it. I travelled to many places including Thailand, India, Singapore, Japan and spent 6months living in Korea. While people maybe from different countries, cultures and customs we are all just human beings with a heart. Im not sure what the future holds but am planning to live life to the full and enjoy every moment. While recently reading an article about Bronnie Ware who was a personal carer for people dying, she blogged about people’s final thoughts as they were coming to the end. With people at their most emotionally open hearts, they can see clearly what matters. By using the wisdom from people dying, we can determine not to live a life of regrets. These top regrets included:
1. I wish i hadn’t worked too hard
2. I wish id had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me
3. I wish id had the courage to express my feelings
4. I wish i had stayed in touch with my friends
5. I wish i had let myself be happier
If we face up to death we can live our life with our priorities in check.
